Jason J. Wang travels nationally and internationally as a television host and judge, food personality, speaker, baker, chef and educator. Born and raised in Boston, MA by parents who immigrated from Taiwan and China, Jason began cooking at a young age and grew up with an innate passion and curiosity for food. A self-taught baker, he started off his pastry journey with his father’s cookbook collection and a three-day long attempt at his first apple pie. His diverse studies starting in plant sciences and then a subsequent career as a professional classical musician and public school educator give Jason a unique depth of experiences to draw from when engaging with food, clients, and audiences.

 

Jason has an elegant yet accessible culinary approach honed through his extensive world travels & exploration of global food traditions, techniques, and cultures from humble food stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe, Asia, Australia & the US. He is best known in the culinary world for his beautifully plated nature-inspired dessert creations that fuse Western techniques with vibrant Asian-themed flavors.

 

Audiences know Jason for his sparkling personality & artistic flair, his wealth of cross-cultural food knowledge, and the joy & energy he brings to all things food & education related.

 

As Runner-Up of ‘Masterchef US’ Season 8 on FOX, Jason was specially commended by restauranteur Joe Bastianich for bringing, “a global trend” and important food awareness to American audiences. Jason’s journey has since led to media projects, speaking engagements, culinary consulting, and classes for audiences across the globe.

Most recently, Jason was invited by the Office of the President of Taiwan to design a trio of sweets and pastries to be served to international guests visiting in 2023. Jason hosts the ongoing ‘Jason’s Table’ series on TaiwanPlus where he explores different facets of the cuisine and food culture of Taiwan; the show’s third season, focused on signature dishes from 12 Taiwanese master chefs, will air in summer of 2023.

 

Previously, Jason hosted Michelin ‘Food Hunter’ for the Asia Travel Channel where he delved into the behind-the-scenes secrets of Michelin-starred cuisine in Europe and cooked with celebrity chefs in acclaimed restaurants ‘Tian’ and ‘Konstantin Filippou’ in Austria and ‘Babel’ and ‘Costes’ in Hungary. For two seasons, Jason served as a Series Judge for major network reality cooking competition ‘CooKing’ for ETtoday Taiwan broadcast throughout Asia. He has collaborated on campaigns for major brands like ZESPRI Kiwifruit, WanChai Ferry Dumplings, Thermomix & The Glenlivet.

In 2019, Jason was invited to be the spokesperson for the Taipei Tourism Bureau’s North American ‘Undiscovered Taipei’ campaign in partnership with EVA Air. In 2018, for the City of Taipei’s ‘Cuisine Taipei’ campaign, he designed a signature Asian fusion ‘Starfruit Pineapple Black Sesame tart’ showcased on a special episode of ‘Jason On Mission,’ his cooking series with the FOX Networks Groups Asia.

As an educator at heart, Jason has a gift for explaining even the most complex ideas & techniques to viewers in simple, easy to understand ways. His knowledge of international cuisines, sophisticated eye & palate, and his infectious smile & personality continue to endear him to audiences across multiple media platforms worldwide.
